Teacher Training Manual: The Mind-Body Connection

This manual is designed to summarize the basics of mind-body physiology and functional anatomy as they relate to yoga practice. The manual focuses more on the teaching applications of the central ideas, rather than the technical details of anatomy and mind-body physiology. For example, the manual contains suggestions for how to guide your students' breathing, how to sequence postures, how to create effective images and verbal cues for specific asanas, how to touch/adjust students in postures, and how to work with students with chronic pain or health challenges.

This manual provides a fresh perspective on teaching yoga, based on my experience as a psychophysiology researcher, psychologist, and yoga teacher. Teacher trainers, teachers-in-training, and yoga students will enjoy the original ideas on how to apply this information to a personal yoga practice.

You can also read a short excerpt that describes some typical teaching applications and gives you a sense of how the manual is written.
